Of course it’s important that nothing moves, but it’s also essential for the test specimen not to deform or be obscured – and parts shifting around just won’t do. Milling a custom fixture for each test specimen is time-consuming and expensive and it only fits that one specific part. Although there are individual fasteners or small sets, they’re not flexible, not 3D-variable and not expandable and certainly not suitable for every measurement technology.
